History
Ghabe was a forest covered by different kinds of wild trees. Around the year 1772 some of the Abu Jawdeh / Abou Jaoude family moved from "Deir el- Harf" to this area to start a peaceful life. The newcomers started buying lands from the "Lamaa" and "Asfar" families and in 1885 the "Asfar" family sold their last land to one of the newcomers and moved to Beirut.

This land produced silk, vegetables, fruits and others. People used to raise cattles and farmers used to fix lands and plant large areas to support their families.

In 1929 people from Ghabe worked on cutting a road, then the government improved this road in 1943. In 1944 water pipes were constructed and in 1948 electricity covered the village.

Nowadays, new buildings were constructed and el-Ghabe became one of the most important villages in el-Metn district which all tourists especially Arabs visit to relax and enjoy nature.
